ONA-branded hats keep ONA4 execs toasty

ONA46 exec member Kimberly Peachy knit up a storm, providing ONA-branded hats to her fellow executives and more.
Kimberly Peachey, Secretary/Vice Coordinator/Interim Coordinator for ONA4, sat down one day to start knitting herself a hat. With all the hats she wears these days for ONA4, she could have knitted one for each position.

Knitted by an ONA46 executive member, this hat drew a lot of attention for its whimsical style and ONA logo – with “RN Proud, ONA4.”
Instead, she knitted 30, one for each of the 24 executive members and more. They all got to choose the colour they wanted.
“After I finished the first one, I just kept going,” she says.
Peachey also knitted one for Region 5 Vice-President John Lowe and for Brigitte Goar, ONA’s Anti-Racism, Anti-Oppression Specialist – Reconciliation.
What makes these hats so special is they all have a leather tag made through Etsy that has an ONA logo imprinted and a message: “RN Proud.”
A few nursing colleagues asked Peachey about the hats, and she gave each of them one.
“I initially made them so we can wear them at political action events, but now that winter has arrived, our hats may get a bit more exposure,” she laughs.
Peachey’s next goal is to try knitting a matching infant hat for the ONA4 executive couple expecting their first baby. Watch out that she doesn’t knit 30!
