Given all the fervor and excitement around the many local ONA activities that have taken place to promote our campaigns and initiatives, the ONA46 executive wanted to join in on the fun and raise awareness about the union and our work.
Representing the nurses and health-care professionals at Sault Area Hospital in Sault Ste. Marie, they came up with an idea that twinned perfectly for the fall and football season – a banner to place on the field during a football game.
The four-feet by three-feet banner, sizeable for the viewing audience, ended up dressing the Sault College Cougars game, inspired by one of the players whose mom serves on the ONA46 executive.
Getting the banner done was fairly easy, says Melissa Folz, ONA46 First Vice-Coordinator.
“I reached out to ONA’s Communications Team with some ideas to promote our Local and they sent some design samples. The banner worked out great! We got lots of public feedback saying it was nice to see ONA advertised, and many of our members have links to local football.”
This was a one-shot wonder as the banner was taken down when the first snow flew. Maybe a different team will win a coin toss to get the banner next year.
All in all, it was a touchdown!
