Burst water main

I recall working during the height of COVID when a water main burst that went into the hospital. It resulted in no water or plumbing for almost one day in the entire hospital.
It occurred over a weekend, so there wasn’t much response from the administration. There was a small supply of water bottles on hand, and front-line staff had their families bringing in water. The toilets all overfilled and everyone was going outside in the bushes.
The debrief to the local news and staff later that week said everything went well.
It was just awful.
There was no contingency plan for staff and patients to go to the bathroom once all the toilets were full. The excrement flowed over onto the floors in the bathrooms. The unit I was on had fewer than 10 bottles of water, which were used to administer medications and do peri-care on heavily soiled patients.
Why are hospital staff – mainly nurses – treated like they are less than human? Conditions like this are unacceptable, but “everything went well?”
