Nursing ratios

The public is under the impression we have ratio legislation already.

I’m on my Local ONA executive and work in the emergency department (ED). I wanted to share an idea with my fellow members.

I have been thinking about how to get public support for our nursing ratios petition. Maybe we need to start showing, not telling. Imagine a cartoon of hundreds of patients and one ED nurse versus a photo of one person walking four dogs or childcare showing legislation of ratios as a comparative.

The public and even some nurses are under the impression we have this ratio legislation already [in health care], but perhaps a ridiculous image of no legislation will make the point.
