Nursing Week history and hopes

For Nursing Week, I’m going to a regional breakfast with politicians. Hopefully, I’ll be welcomed seeing as I’m unemployed.
Last year for Nursing Week, I had just started a new contract and was invited to take part in a barbecue.
Two years ago for Nursing Week, I arranged treats, education, nursing trivia, games and a bag of lifesaver candy, with the note “You’re a lifesaver” for all the staff onsite in long-term care (registered nurses, registered practical nurses, personal support workers, housekeeping and kitchen staff).
During the pandemic, Nursing Week was my favourite. I was nominated for a Nursing Hero award.
I wish all nurses, wherever you work, all the best and happy celebrations. You truly deserve respect and admiration. Congratulations!
And maybe next year, I’ll be working and can celebrate with you! FYI, I’ve submitted 625 applications (27 per cent resulted in interviews and 73 per cent were ghosted).
