Suffering

Graphic that reads,

I’m so tired of being short at work.

I’ve been an RN for 30 years and have worked all my life in long-term care (LTC). I love my work, I love my residents and feel privileged to care for them, but…

My LTC home has never been so short-staffed as the past year.

Two nurses call in and I have to work a unit. I’m a charge nurse and don’t usually work a unit. But I do tons of teaching and helping, so when I get pulled to cover a unit, the home suffers.

Management doesn’t step up to help. They don’t come to say “sorry,” or ask if I’m alright. We’re so short-staffed and the home doesn’t help with extra staff or an adequate staffing plan.

This private home sucks!
